First, the golden rule: always think ahead. The game typically shows you the next three pieces you’ll receive. Don’t just focus on the piece you’re placing now. Look at what’s coming. If you see a large, awkward piece on deck, start actively creating a space for it. A little foresight prevents the dreaded "no more moves" screen.
Second, learn to love the combo. Clearing one line is good. Clearing two, three, or even four lines with a single piece is fantastic. It not only gives you a massive score multiplier but also clears the board much more efficiently. Always be on the lookout for opportunities to set up these multi-line clears. Sometimes it’s worth holding off on an easy single line if it means you can set up a double on the next move.
Third, avoid stranding single squares. An isolated empty square is a puzzle player’s nightmare. It can only be filled by the tiny 1x1 square block, which is often rare. A board riddled with these holes is a board that’s about to lose. Try to keep your empty spaces connected and open, making them easier to fill with a variety of shapes.
Finally, manage the center. While it's tempting to build from the edges inward, leaving the center of the board open gives you maximum flexibility. It’s the best place to accommodate those bulky 2x2 or 3x3 blocks that can quickly end your run if you don't have room for them.
